After a week of voting, Apecoin holders, by a narrow majority, voted in favor of the maintenance of the Ethereum blockchain.
Community governance in action
After the biggest charges during the launch of the Otherside metaverse, Yuga Labs teams questioned whether they always existed on the Ethereum blockchain. The latter, in a tweet, indicated that they wanted to migrate to a new blockchain. They also confirmed that they want to begin a process to develop their own blockchain.
These statements received many responses and various suggestions were offered to Yuga Labs. Avalanche in particular managed to host the APE on its blockchain. Meanwhile, a member of the Apecoin DAO, BAYC 2491, submitted a proposal to the public. Known as AIP-41, the latter aims to » Maintain Apecoin within the Ethereum ecosystem “.
This proposal was presented to the Ape community, .i. from 3 to 9 June. During this period, many debates have fueled the web between the scalded Ethereum, refusing to expose themselves, in the future, to the risk of record gas costs and the eternal loyalty.
Matt Galligan, an active member of the Apecoin DAO, especially urged the public to vote in favor of AIP-41. In this regard, he confirmed on Twitter “A favorable vote would give the OAB time to devise a plan that could better withstand the test of time. Voting against can have unintended consequences, which can be due to a messy process ”.
End of suspension!
This Thursday the public decided. Around 54% of Apecoin holders are in favor of staying on the Ethereum blockchain.
Please note that this is not final and members of the Apecoin DAO can submit new proposals within three months. This delay makes it possible to avoid contentious cases of succession of votes where members of the public are dissatisfied with the results of a previous process.
In the event of a new explosion in gas costs, for example, one wonders what will happen to the view in favor of maintaining that there is currently only a small majority.
Anyway, this vote is a fine example of it joint community management, characteristic of web3’s democratic taste. Yuga Labs has not yet responded.
